G6 Alliance adjusts Asia Suez Express service

Members of the ocean carrier alliance have added a second call at Halifax on their Asia Suez Express service between Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent and the United States East Coast..    Members of the G6 Alliance – ocean carriers APL, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Nippon Yusen Kaisha and Orient Overseas Container Line –  have announced changes to their Asia Suez Express (AZX) service.
   Beginning with the July 6 sailing of the Budapest Express from Laem Chabang, the AZX will add an eastbound call at Halifax, its second call at the port.
   According to ocean carrier schedule and capacity database BlueWater Reporting, the AZX operates with 11 vessels, six from APL, four from Hapag-Lloyd and one from OOCL, with an average capacity of 5,972 TEUs.
   The revised port rotation of the AZX is Laem Chabang, Singapore, Colombo, Damietta, Cagliari, Halifax, New York, Savannah, Norfolk, Halifax, Cagliari, Damietta, Jebel Ali, Singapore and Laem Chabang.
   “This move is expected to improve transit times from Canada to Asian and Mediterranean ports as well as from Asian and Mediterranean ports to New York,” alliance members said in a statement.
