GAC in deal with Caribbean specialist Alstons

Ship agency and logistics company GAC Shipping said it has extended its network to Trinidad & Tobago by signing an alliance with Alstons Shipping Ltd.

Alstons Shipping has 102 years of maritime experience in Trinidad & Tobago, the Caribbean and surrounding islands, and GAC said the deal would give it “coverage of all ports in the region, including the Caribbean.”

Tom Nasman, GAC Americas’ regional director, said the two companies had been working together for five years and that the new agreement put the firms “in a strong position to meet the demand for port and ship agency services, particularly in the growing LNG sector.

“We will also target the offshore industry by drawing upon our Group’s integrated capabilities in the shipping, logistics and marine fields,” he added.

Established in Trinidad in 1905, Alstons Shipping is one of the oldest shipping and transportation agents in Trinidad & Tobago and the Caribbean. It is now a member of the ANSA McAL Group of Companies. It represents the interests of several international shipping companies and oil majors including Hapag Lloyd, Bernuth Lines, “K” Kine car carriers, Chevron and Texaco Eastern Caribbean Tankers, as well as spot charterers.
