GAC starts new cold chain warehousing service near Jakarta

Logistics services provider’s Indonesia subsidiary set up an environmentally friendly cold chain distribution center aimed at shippers of perishables cargo.    GAC Samudera Logistics has begun offering a cold chain warehousing service in the Bekasi area of Indonesia.
   The service, aimed at shippers of perishable goods, is based around a climate-controlled distribution center 30 kilometers east of Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta. The DC, according to GAC, is unique in Indonesia as it uses more environmentally friendly carbon dioxide for cooling, rather than ammonia or other common refrigerants, which are more energy-intensive.
   The cold chain DC has six independent chambers, with temperatures ranging from -25 degrees to 5 degrees Celsius, and one chamber for chilled temperatures of 0 degrees to 8 degrees Celsius.
   The facility can accommodate a storage volume of more than 6,000 standard pallet positions with 12 docks, and is accessible to all truck types, from one-ton trucks to 40-foot containers.
   GAC Samudera Logistics is the Indonesia subsidiary of the global logistics services provider.
