Garcia tapped for Commerce deputy secretary

Garcia tapped for Commerce deputy secretary    President Obama has picked Terry Garcia as his next deputy secretary of the U.S. Commerce Department.
   Garcia is executive vice president for mission programs at the National Geographic Society. In that role, he is responsible for the management of more than 400 scientific, conservation and exploration projects a year.
   In June 2010, Garcia was appointed by the White House to serve on the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Deepwater Drilling.
   Prior to joining the National Geographic in 1999, he was Commerce's assistant secretary for oceans and atmosphere and deputy administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He also served as general counsel of NOAA.
