GE MEDICAL SELECTS BAX GLOBAL TO MANAGE U.S. REVERSE LOGISTICS

BAX Global, the Irvine, Calif.-based neutral logistics and supply chain management provider, said Tuesday that it has contracted with GE Medical to provide reverse logistics services for the provider of medical diagnostic imaging equipment.

BAX Global will manage all GE Medical parts maintenance and repair kit reverse logistics activities, including those for GE Medical's multimillion-dollar X-ray, ultrasound, CT scanners and MRI equipment.

GE Medical's 2,000 field engineers will not coordinate with BAX to handle their new part and equipment pickups inside hospitals and then for follow-through shipment of items that need repair to regional locations throughout the company.

“BAX has showed us a way to reduce overall transportation costs and improve our cycle time by improving speed and transportation and efficiencies in our parts returns,” said Jan Michalski, service transportation leader for GE Medical, based in Milwaukee, Wis.

Through BAX's new BAXSaver service, Michalski said GE has eliminated seven days from its previous returns cycle as well as all air-freight and related storage expenses.

“The recent combining of our supply chain organization with our core transport group has enabled BAX to quickly develop logistics solutions for our customers' ” reverse management programs, said Sam Eady, global accounts manager, BAX Global.
