Geodis Wilson establishes Hamburg base

The marine logistics division of Geodis Wilson is placing its bets on Hamburg by setting up a new base that follows an increase in its cruise and cargo vessel supply business there.
Geodis Wilson marine logistics’ “control tower” in Hamburg was initially installed to facilitate the management of two projects for Crystal Cruises in May and June. The projects involved the transport and logistics management of supplies, spare parts, and replacement parts for overhauling and refitting the Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony at the Blohm & Voss dry-dock facility.
The company saw Hamburg as a crucial delivery point for its services and has decided to make the control tower permanent.
“Essentially we have a 4PL approach to marine supplies. We prioritize visibility throughout the supply chain, including vendor performance,” said Sergio Herrero, vertical market director of the marine logistics division.
Hamburg serves as a cruise hub and a regular call for container and break-bulk liner carriers in Northern Europe. Geodis Wilson’s said its three main sectors of marine logistics customers and operations are well represented at the port. – Geoff Whiting
