GEORGIA PORTS AUTHORITY CREATES CLIENT RELATIONS CENTER

The Georgia Ports Authority has created a Client Relations Center in Savannah, to work closely with the transportation sector, port communities and business interests statewide on issues related to terminal logistics and services.

'The CRC will act as a front-line communications tool providing customers and other port users with a direct, responsive link to service assistance, cargo coordination and issue resolution,' said Doug J. Marchand, executive director of the port authority.

The center will handle customer relations across a broad cross section of cargoes — container, breakbulk, roll-on-roll/off, agri-bulk, dry bulk, liquid bulk, heavy-lift and project cargoes — related to the port authority's ports of Savannah and Brunswick and inland barge operations in Bainbridge and Columbus.

Byron X. Hock, director of trade development, will direct the Client Relations Center.
