Almost 30 container ships and multipurpose vessels are being built in Vietnamese shipyards using the Germanischer Lloyd class standards, the society said.
'Three important things happened this week: Vietnam gained membership to the World Trade Organization, the trade fair 'Maritime Vietnam' showcased the growing importance of shipbuilding and the supply industry in Vietnam and Germanischer Lloyd can celebrate the opening of our offices in Hanoi and Haiphong,' said Volkmar Wasmansdorff, Germanischer Lloyd's managing director East Asia.
Germanischer Lloyd started activities in the South East Asian country in 1995 with a representative office in Ho Chi Minh City, at the same time as Vietnam submitted the WTO application to the General Council.
