Giuseppe Bottiglieri orders six post-Panamax bulk carriers from China

Italy's Giuseppe Bottiglieri di Navigazione SpA has ordered six 92,500-deadweight-ton post-Panamax bulk carriers from Chinese shipyard Jiangsu Yangzijiang, worth more than $270 million.

The ships will be delivered in 2010 and will be deployed on international trades, moving iron ore, coal and grain products.

Family-owned Giuseppe Bottiglieri said the purchases are part of its wider industrial plan to 'take advantage of the enlargement of the Panama Canal.'
