Global adds evening hours Global Terminal in Jersey City, N.J., has extended gate hours to two hours for truckers.
   The terminal had allowed truckers entering and receiving cargo at the terminal to call from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. But it has extended gate hours until 7 p.m. and will remain open another one or two hours, if necessary, until trucks on the terminal have picked up or delivered their loads.
   Maurice Byan, president and chief executive officer of Global, said used of the service has been lightly initially, with a few dozen truckers entering after 5 p.m. each day. But he is hopeful usage will pick up as more draymen find out about the extended hours.
   He said the longer hours might help alleviate congestion on local roadways, and will remain in place, at least through the end of August, when they will be evaluated.
   “Hopefully more truckers will use them and they’ll become permanent,” Byan said.
