Global Logistics Network expands

   After adding American Airlines Cargo last week, the Global Logistics Network has kept expanding with the addition of Durban, South Africa-based Barloworld Logistics.
   Both new members will be given access to GLN’s network of close to 600 member offices in more than 120 countries. 
   Access to the network will allow AA Cargo to work more closely with other members, which may open up new business avenues for the carrier.
   “We have been looking at prospective network partners where there is potential to expand existing business. With GLN, I believe we have found such a partner where we can develop a relationship which is mutually beneficial,” AA Cargo’s Roger Samways said in a statement.
   Global Logistics Network started in 2003 with 38 founding members, almost doubling in that first year. GLN ended 2011 with 411 members and has seen steady growth of between 45 and 55 new members a year. Additions in 2012 included IAG Cargo, International Freight Services and Crowley Logistics.
