ITSA, established 33 years ago, is the fourth largest forwarder in Italy in terms of volume on Asia-Italy trade, and operates branch offices in Milan, Venice, Taranto, Pomezia, Civitavecchia and Bari.
GES said the deal increases its global network to 56 offices worldwide.
Globe cited Italy’s position as the world’s 11th largest economy in terms of purchasing power as partial motivation for the deal, despite Italy’s domestic consumption remaining low like much of Europe after the 2008 euro-zone crisis. The ITSA said it has shifted focus to the Asia-Italy trade in response to that upheaval.
Globe Express Services’ Overseas Group, which will be handling the venture, offers logistics services to companies around the world with a focus in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
