Godwin named North Carolina port advisor

The North Carolina State Port Authority named Laura M. Godwin as director of federal government relations

She will be part of the port’s planning and development team and    work with the port’s board and chief executive officer to provide advice and guidance on strategic initiatives, especially port expansion projects.

“Much of the successful growth and expansion at our Ports in Wilmington and Morehead City, and especially the proposed N.C. International Port, will depend on significant infrastructure improvements. Federal support for these projects will be paramount,” said Thomas Eager, the port’s CEO.

Godwin most recently served as the district director for policy and economic development in U.S. Rep. Mike McIntyre’s Wilmington office. She also served as legislative assistant to former U.S. Sen. John Edwards, with responsibility in the areas of appropriations, agriculture, rural economy, national defense and natural disasters.
