Goldenport buys two 972-TEU ships

Goldenport buys two 972-TEU ships Athens, Greece-based Goldenport Holdings Inc. has agreed to buy two 972-TEU box ships for a total of $28.6 million from Danish third party K/S DMK-Fare c/o DMK-Holdings A/S.
   Goldenport will finance the acquisitions of the sister ships with cash reserves of $9.88 million and an agreed loan facility of $18.75 million.
   The two 1992-built vessels, Gitte and MOL Brilliant, will immediately be employed under their existing time-charter deals with Maersk Line and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, respectively. Danish carrier Maersk is paying a daily rate of $11,385 until April 2008, with an option to extend for another six months at a daily rate of $12,400. MOL is paying a daily rate of $10,280 until August 2008.
   With the two purchases, Goldenport’s fleet will include 15 container vessels with a combined capacity of about 28,500 TEUs ranging from 485 TEUs to 5,551 TEUs.
