Gottschalks names Navarro as new VP of logistics

Gottschalks names Navarro as new VP of logistics Fresno-based Gottschalks Inc. today announced the appointment of David Navarro as the retail chain's new vice president of logistics.
   Navarro, a 25-year veteran of the logistics industry, served the past eight years with New York City-based Liz Claiborne Inc., leaving as director of corporate transportation and customer compliance and director of corporate distribution. Previously, Navarro held the positions of director of logistics at Houston-based retailer Stage Store Inc. and distribution consultant at Pacoima, Calif.-based material handling equipment and distribution software maker SDI Industries. He has also directed distribution and logistics at Casual Corner Group Inc., May D&F and Foley’s Department Stores.
   Regional retailer Gottschalks operates 58 department stores and four specialty apparel stores in six western states, including California, Washington, Alaska, Oregon, Nevada and Idaho. Catering to customers looking for moderately priced brand-name products, the firm reported nearly $690 million in sales last year, according to Hoover's.
