Governors call for more open New York-New Jersey Port Authority
New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer and New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine are calling for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to conduct its operations in a more open manner.
According to press reports, a joint letter from the governors to the agency’s board of commissioners asks for bylaw changes so that the agency would follow disclosure rules that apply to most state and federal agencies.
“Public confidence in government rests on governing bodies and officials conducting their affairs in a way that is fair, transparent, efficient and ethical,” the governors wrote.
