GRAND ALLIANCE RESUMES TRANSPACIFIC SERVICE FEX

Grand Alliance carriers Hapag-Lloyd Container Line, Nippon Yusen Kaisha, Orient Overseas Container Line and P&O Nedlloyd Container Line are resuming their joint weekly transpacific “Far East Express” service at the end of March.

The “FEX” service has been idle for nearly eight weeks until now to coincide with the off-peak season and the lull caused by the Chinese New Year.

The service will deploy five ships of around 6,200 TEUs, returning about 320,000 TEUs in annual one-way capacity to the trade. The service was in operation during the peak season of last year.

Maersk Sealand, another carrier which had suspended one of its services during the winter season, resumed its TP5 service earlier this year.

The port rotation for the “FEX” service of the Grand Alliance is Xiamen, Shekou, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Oakland, Tokyo, Nagoya, Kobe, Xiamen, Shekou and Hong Kong.
