Grand China doubles transpacific capacity    A month after entering the transpacific, Grand China Shipping is adding a second transpacific string to double capacity, serve more ports and offer faster transit times.
   Instead of a single string covering the entire China Coast, the company’s original Super Pacific Express (SPX) service will be split, with the revised SPX loop now covering just North China and the new Trans-Pacific Express (TPX) loop covering South China.
   In addition, both services will now call the Ports America Outer Harbor Terminal in Oakland as well as Total Terminals International in Long Beach.
   The revised SPX service rotation is Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, Long Beach, Oakland and Qingdao.
The new TPX service rotation is Xiamen, Hong Kong, Shenzhen (Yantian International Container Terminals), Long Beach, Oakland and Xiamen.
   Both services will employ five ships ranging in size from 2,300 TEUs to 2,700 TEUs.
   The TPX begins with a call in Xiamen on June 2.
