Great Lakes coal loadings down 17%
Coal loadings at ports on the Great Lakes in May totaled 3.6 million tons, a 17 percent decrease compared to May 2008.
Through the end of May, coal shipments stand at 7.3 million tons, a 35 percent decrease compared to the first five months of 2008, the Lake Carriers Association said Monday.
