GREENBRIAR EQUITY GROUP FOCUSES ON TRANSPORTATION, LOGISTICS    Greenbriar Equity Group LLC, a private equity investment firm, said it has closed its first fund, targeting transportation and transport-related sectors with capital and co-investment commitments of about $700 million.
   Greenbriar was founded by Joel Beckman, Jerry Greenwald and Regg Jones. Greenwald, a 30-year transportation veteran, recently served as chairman and chief executive officer of UAL Corp., parent of United Airlines, and was vice chairman of Chrysler Corp. Beckman and Jones, at different times, had overall responsibility for global transportation business at Goldman Sachs.
   The private equity investment firm has also formed an alliance with Berkshire Partners LLC, a Boston-based private equity firm.
   Greenbriar said it targets medium to large equity investment in:
   * Traditional sectors such as airlines air freight, automotive, commercial aerospace, cruise, railroads, shipping and trucking.
   * Related sectors, such as manufacturing, logistics, distribution and service sectors supplying the transportation industry.
   * Natural extensions of transportation industry activity related to energy, financial services, infrastructure, retail and technology.
   The Rye, N.Y.-based group said it will consider a variety of transportation structures.
