Greenbrier receives orders for 1,800 new rail car units

The Lake Oswego, Ore.-based railroad transportation equipment manufacturer received new orders for approximately 1,800 rail car units valued at nearly $170 million since Sept. 1, 2015, the beginning of the company’s fiscal year.

   The Greenbrier Companies, Inc. has received new orders for approximately 1,800 rail car units valued at nearly $170 million since Sept. 1, 2015, the beginning of the fiscal year, the company said.
   A total of 500 units were received during the first quarter, which ended Nov. 30, while a total of 1,300 units were received afterwards.
   Orders covered a wide range of railcar types, including automobile carrying railcars, boxcars, large cube covered hopper cars, and non-energy tank cars for the North American and European markets.
   In addition, Greenbrier reaffirmed its fiscal year 2016 guidance, which includes deliveries of 20,000 to 22,500 units, revenues to exceed $2.8 billion and diluted earnings per share of between $5.56 and $6.15.
