GRI Roundup: CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd

Ocean carriers CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd announced general rate increases.

   Ocean carriers CMA CGM and Hapag-Lloyd issued general rate increases.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from the Far East and Japan to the West Mediterranean, East Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea and North Africa on all cargo effective Sept. 20. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU to the West Mediterranean, East Mediterranean, Adriatic, Black Sea and North Africa and 450 euros per TEU to Syria.
   The French carrier will also increase rates from all Asian ports (including Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to West Africa on all cargo effective Oct. 1. Rates will increase by $500 per container.
   CMA CGM will also increase rates from the Arabian Gulf, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to North Europe, the Mediterranean, Scandinavia, Baltic, Black Sea, North Africa, Central America-Caribbean and South America on all cargo effective Oct. 1. Rates will increase by $150 per TEU and $250 per 40-foot container. 
   Hapag-Lloyd will increase rates from Asia to North Europe and the Mediterranean effective Sept. 21 by $550 per TEU.
