GRI Roundup: Maersk Line and CMA CGM

Ocean carriers Maersk line of Denmark and CMA CGM of France issued general rate increases.

   Ocean carriers Maersk Line and CMA CGM issued general rate increases on various trades.
   Maersk Line will increase rates from:
     • China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia to Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay effective July 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $700 per TEU, FEU and 40-foot high cube containers; and for reefer cargo, rates will increase by $700 per 40-foot high cube containers. In addition, rates will increase by $700 per 40-foot non-operating reefer containers.
     • Japan and South Korea to Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay effective July 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $1,500 per TEU, FEU and 40-foot high cube container; and for reefer cargo, rates will increase by $1,500 per 40-foot high cube container. Rates will also increase by $1,500 per 40-foot non-operating reefer container.
     • China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Myanmar, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama and Colombia (Santa Marta, Barranquilla and Cartagena) effective July 15. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $1,050 per TEU and $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube container; and reefer cargo, rates will increase by $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube container. Rates will also increase by $1,500 per 40-foot non-operating reefer container.
     • The same abovementioned Asian ports to Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Buenaventura in Colombia effective July 15. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $750 per TEU and $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers; and for reefer cargo, rates will increase by $1,500 per FEU and 40-foot high cube containers. In addition, rates will increase by $1,500 per 40-foot non-operating reefer containers.
     • India, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Kuwait, Sri Lanka, Iraq, Jordan, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Yemen to West Africa effective July 16. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $300 per TEU and $600 per FEU, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube containers.
     • Various locations in India including Chennai, Cochin, Colombo, Haldia Port, Kattupalli, Kolkata, Krishnapatnam, Mangalore, Marmagao, Raipur, Tuticorin and Visakhapatnam to the Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, Congo, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola and Namibia effective July 1. For dry cargo, rates will increase by $150 per TEU.
   CMA CGM will increase rates from:
     • All Asian ports to all Middle East Gulf ports for all cargo in two successive steps. On July 1, rates will increase by $100 per TEU, and on July 15, rates will increase again by $100 per TEU.
     • Asia (including Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia and Bangladesh) to South African ports (Durban, Cape Town and Coega) for all container types effective Aug. 1. Rates will increase by $500 per TEU and $1,000 per FEU.
     • The Middle East, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to North Europe, Scandinavia, the Baltic, the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea, North Africa, Central America, the Caribbean an South America for dry and reefer cargo effective July 27. Rates will increase by $300 per TEU and $400 per FEU.
     • All Asian ports (excluding Japan) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Ain Sokhna, Egypt; Aqaba, Jordan; Djibouti; Port Sudan, Sudan; and Aden and Hodeidah in Yemen for all container types effective July 1. Rates will increase by $200 per TEU.
