The vessels will conform to ice-fleet standards permitting operation in the Baltic, and will have 3,200 lane meters and a speed of 20 knots. The Chinese yard has guaranteed delivery starting in 2010 and completing in 2011.
Grimaldi-Naples said it has 30 newbuilds on order with a value of more than 2 billion euros, so that by 2011 its fleet will comprise 140 vessels including ro/ros, car carriers, ro-paxes and cruise ferries.
