Grounded CP Ships vessel abandoned by owners    Severe weather conditions have forced the ship owners of the “CP Valour” to abandon the stricken vessel after salvors deemed there was no reasonable prospect of salving either the ship or cargo.
   The CP Ships-operated vessel grounded Dec. 9, near the island of Faial in the Azores, en route from Montreal to Valencia in Spain.
   CP Ships said tenders would be issued shortly for wreck removal.
   “Since the grounding, some of the cargo has been damaged. And in the time it will take to appoint a wreck removal contractor, further damage is foreseeable. In the interest of safety, we would not recommend that you consider retrieving your cargo by other means,” CP Ships said.
   Senator Lines, which has slots on CP Ships’ Montreal-Mediterranean Loop 2 service on which the “CP Valour” was deployed, said customers with cargo aboard the grounded vessel will receive a separate termination notice via its local agencies.
