GT Nexus acquires German software firm Metaship

GT Nexus acquires German software firm Metaship Logistics technology firm GT Nexus said Tuesday has acquired German firm Metaship AG, he Hamburg-based provider of logistics software.
   Metaship has been rebranded as part of the GT Nexus organization and will serve as the GT Nexus headquarters for Europe.
   As part of the acquisition, Wolf Scheder-Bieschin and Krafft B'rner, Metaship founders and former co-chief executive officers, have joined the GT Nexus Europe management team, responsible for the products and operations, respectively, of GT Nexus in Europe.
   Officials from Alameda, Calif.-based GT Nexus said the purchase was a perfect fit for the firm's vision in the European market where it sees logistics software being driven not just by globalization and supply chain sophistication, “but also by the changing regulatory environment and complex land transport networks.”
   GT Nexus plans to incorporate Metaship's rate management and road transportation products into its own suite of on-demand freight management software offerings to customers in Europe.
   Financial details of the acquisition, completed in December of last year, were not released. Metaship is now operating as GT Nexus Europe GmbH.
