Guards arrested at N.J. terminal

Guards arrested at N.J. terminal Waterfront police reportedly arrested 11 port security guards at a container terminal in the Port of New York and New Jersey and charged them with submitting false payroll records for hours they didn’t work.
   The Associated Press and Star Ledger said that guards at the Global Terminal in Jersey City, N.J., were accused of leaving their posts at terminal gates early, while other workers at other gates “covered” for them.
   Tom DeMaria, executive director of the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor, was quoted as saying there were no security concerns over the incidents because the gates were locked when the guards were not present.
   The amount of money involved is $10,000 for one month, though the commission is now looking at records for a longer period of time.
