Gulftainer shuffles C-level management

Flemming Dalgaard, a former DP World executive, has taken the reins at the United Arab Emirates-based global terminal operator from Peter Richards, will now become CEO of Gulftainer USA.    UAE-based global terminal operator Gulftainer has promoted Flemming Dalgaard to group CEO, replacing Peter Richards.
   Richards will now become CEO of Gulftainer USA, which recently started its first operation at Port Canaveral in Florida, and serve on the company’s executive board.
   Company officials praised Richards for building the company from its roots in the United Arab Emirates into the largest privately owned, independent port operator and a logistics provider with operations in several continents.
   “The board has great confidence in his abilities to further accelerate our growth within the U.S. market,” Chairman Badr Jafar said in a statement.
   Richards has been with Gulftainer for 30 years.
   Dalgaard was hired on at Gulftainer in August to manage its international operations. He previously served as senior vice president for group strategy at DP World and CEO for DP World Europe and Russia. In a previous role, he was managing director at Maersk Line in the United Kingdom.
   After inaugurating the small container terminal at Port Canaveral in mid-2015, Gulftainer was able to begin revenue service when Dutch-owned carrier Streamlines signed on to call the port early this year.
