GXS acquires Brazilian EDI firm
Maryland-based business-to-business software company GXS on Monday acquired Interchange Servicos S.A., one of Brazil's largest providers of electronic data interchange services.
GXS bought Interchange from Banco Real, Citibank Brazil, EDS (an HP company), and Ita' Unibanco. Interchange, founded in 1991, has provided EDI services to more than 450 customers in the financial services, retail and utilities industries, including 50 of Brazil's largest banks. GXS plans to integrate Interchange's EDI services with GXS Trading Grid to enable customers to leverage its global reach and portfolio of B2B managed services.
'The acquisition builds upon GXS's current market presence in Brazil and accelerates the company's growth plans for B2B managed services in Brazil,' GXS said in a statement. 'GXS targeted Interchange for acquisition because Brazil is a key growth market right now, quickly becoming an important geographic center for business and trade. As a result, Brazilian businesses are in need of supply chain management and visibility technologies.'
