The suspension lasted less than 24 hours, and was caused by the discovery of a form of avian flu in the Dominican Republic. But governments in both countries agreed that the Dominican Republic's Specialized Border Security Corp. would monitor the shipments to assure the products met sanitary standard agreed to by both governments, according the Dominican newspaper El Dia.
