HALL NAMED FSD FOR JFK INTERNATIONAL

HALL NAMED FSD FOR JFK INTERNATIONAL    William Hall, a former chief of police for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, has been named federal security director for JFK International Airport by John Magaw, under secretary for the Transportation Security Administration.
As federal security director (FSD), Hall will be the ranking TSA authority responsible for cargo and passenger security at JFK Airport. The FSD position was created by the Aviation and Transportation Security Act signed by President Bush last November.
Hall joined the port authority in 1971, where he held every uniformed rank over his 31-year career there. He directed early search-and-rescue operations following the Sept. 11 attack on the World Trade Center. Hall had also served as liaison to the Manhattan criminal courts, and commanded search and rescue operations in the PATH rail system following the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
FSDs will be responsible for a full range of airport security, including the conducting of airport security risk assessments and crisis management, while working with local jurisdictions of law enforcement.
The TSA is working with Korn-Ferry International, an executive search firm, to fill FSD positions at the nation’s top 81 airports.
