HAMBURG SUD TO ORDER NEW SERIES OF 3,700-TEU SHIPS    Hamburg Sud, the German shipping group that owns Columbus Line, Crowley American Transport and Alianca, said that it is will order a new series of 3,700-TEU ships.
   The group has not yet determined when it will place the order for the new ships, nor from which shipyard, a spokesman for Hamburg Sud said.
   The vessels will be destined for the Europe/East Coast of South American trade.
   Between the beginning of last year and February of this year, Hamburg Sud took delivery of its first series of six 3,700-TEU containerships, now deployed in its U.S. East Coast/East Coast of South America service. The six vessels are Hamburg Sud’s largest, as well as the biggest in the trade.
