Hamburg Sud to stop using Ellerman affiliate name
The Hamburg Sud group, continuing its policy of marketing its services under fewer brands, said Thursday it will stop using the carrier name Ellerman on Jan. 1.
The German shipping group acquired U.K.-based Ellerman in late 2002 and has retained its name since for its European liner services to and from the Levant, India and Pakistan.
Hamburg Sud has also dropped the names Columbus Line, Crowley American Transport and South Seas Steamship Line in recent years.
Hamburg Sud remains the parent company of Alianca, a Brazilian shipping company that markets its services separately under its own name.
