Hangzhou Bridge connected, to open in one year

Workers over the weekend connected eastern China's mammoth Hangzhou Bay Bridge, the Oriental Morning Post reported Monday.

The bridge, which at 36 kilometers will be the longest ocean-crossing span in the world, will link the cities of Ningbo and Jiaxing and will cut transit time from Ningbo and Shanghai by 120 kilometers.

The $1.8 billion bridge is expected to officially open in June 2008.
