Hanjin opens Busan terminal    Hanjin Shipping had an opening ceremony for its Busan New Port Phase 2-1 Terminal on Tuesday.
   The terminal sits on about 7.4 million square feet of land with three berths 59 feet deep to accommodate three 12,000-TEU containerships at the same time.
   The terminal features an automated horizontal yard crane system, which made it possible to operate about 200 vessels with 200,000 TEUs of cargo for the last three months since the first voyage of Hanjin Los Angeles on Feb. 6.
   Hanjin Shipping's Phase 2-1 Terminal has 18 weekly services including 14 by the CKYH Alliance of COSCO, 'K' Line, Yang Ming and Hanjin Shipping; and four feeder services by STX Pan Ocean, KMTC, Heung-A Shipping.
   Hanjin subsidiary Hanjin New Port Co., which operates Busan New Port Phase 2-1 Terminal is preparing to run Hanjin-Kerry Logistics Center and Busan Gamcheon Bulk Terminal and aims to attract more business in order to reach a target of 1.6 million TEUs by 2010 and 2 million TEUs by 2011.
   Eun Young Choi, chair of Hanjin Shipping, said in a speech at the opening ceremony that she hoped the terminal “will contribute to promoting Busan New Port to a state-of-the-art hub port of Far East Asia.'
