Hanjin orders five 6,500-TEU ships for Asia-Europe    Hanjin Shipping has ordered five 6,500-TEU containerships from Hyundai Heavy Industries, for delivery from September 2006 to May 2007. The vessels are destined for Hanjin’s Asia-Europe services.
   Financing contracts worth $350 million have been signed with the Korea Export-Import Bank, for 70 percent of the vessel price, and 15 percent from Credit Lyonnais’ loan.
   The new ships will replace Hanjin’s five 5,500-TEU vessels currently deployed in the CKYH Alliance’s Asia-Europe “NEX” loop, said Hanjin.
   The vessel will have a service speed of 26.5 knots, an engine power of 93,000 bhp, a length of 304 meters and a deadweight of 79,500 tons.
   Hanjin also has five 7,500-TEU vessels on order, which it intends to charter. These were ordered in March 2003 and will be deployed in the transpacific trade in 2005.
