Hanjin realigns U.S. service center activity

Hanjin Shipping Co. said it will relocate a number of functions being performed at its New York regional office to a new service center in Atlanta.

The company will also relocate functions from its Salt Lake City service center to a service center in Phoenix, Ariz. In addition, Hanjin will set up two new service centers in Chicago and Houston at Hanjin’s established offices in those cities.

Hanjin said the four service centers will allow the company to “leverage its technology, training, management and other assets to create an imporved service for customers at a lower cost to Hanjin.”

The company expects to complete these changes and other restructuring activities by November.

William Rooney, managing director for Hanjin, assured customers in a statement that “Hanjin will continue to provide service with a local feel by dedicating people and resources to each specific market the way we do today.”
