The South Korean carrier noted the 180,000-deadweight-ton ship was built with a double-hull fuel tank for safety reasons according to Fuel Oil Tank Protection (FOTP) regulation.
It said the engine in the new ship consumes less fuel than existing models. Hanjin operates 92 bulk ships, 33 owned and 59 under charter.
