Hanjin takes delivery of 4,300-TEU ship

Korean company Hanjin Shipping today took delivery of the Hanjin Rio de Janeiro, the first in a series of eight a 4,300-TEU containerships ordered from Samsung Heavy Industries in 2005.

   Hanjin will phase the vessel into its China-North Europe Express (CNX) to replace a chartered ship. The company said deploying its own vessel would “improve the schedule and the quality of the service,” which calls Qingdao, Shanghai, Yantian, Hong Kong, Singapore, Jeddah, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre, Jeddah, Singapore, and Qingdao.

   'We will make our best efforts to improve our service as we continue to create an optimal fleet consisting of both 10,000-TEU and 4,000-TEU to 6,000-TEU class vessels,' said J.W. Park, Hanjin’s president and chief executive officer.
