HATSU MARINE LAUNCHES THIRD 6,332-TEU CONTAINERSHIP

   Hatsu Marine Ltd., the London-based carrier established Jan. 4. to develop global container service to Asia, North America and Europe, has launched the third in a series of five 6,332-TEU container vessels.

   The 'Hatsu Excel,' due for delivery in June from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, will fly the United Kingdom flag.

   The five containerships ordered by Hatsu will be deployed in the transpacific trade, said Slin Yeh, president.

   The 'Hatsu Excel' and its sisterships have an overall length of 300 meters and a beam of 42.8 meters. The ships can carry containers 17-abreast on deck, 15-wide below deck and have a deadweight of 76,000 tons and a service draft of 13.5 meters.

   'Later this year, we will commence services linking Asia and north Europe and North Europe and North America,' Yeh said, adding that no specific dates have been set for these plans.
