Hawaii Superferry schedules restart Hawaii Superferry, the company whose high-speed catamaran service between Hawaiian Islands was suspended this summer after protests by environmentalists, is scheduled to relaunch its service on Thursday.
   Protestors expressed concern about the possibility of the high-speed boat hitting whales or spreading invasive species. A judge in Maui made the ship tie-up after it made single trips between Oahu and Maui and Oahu and Kauai in August, saying it had to wait until and environmental study was completed.
   But the state government enacted a law that allowed the company to resume service while the study is underway.
   The Oahu/Maui services is slated to start up on Thursday, but the Honolulu Star Bulletin said over the weekend that there were continuing protests in Maui.
   The service to Kauai continues to be suspended. John Garibaldi, the company's president and chief executive officer, said the ferry company has “begun community outreach efforts on Kauai. We will make our decision about when we commence our Kauai service once that process is completed.”
