Hawaiian Airlines appoints operations exec

Hawaiian Airlines appoints operations exec Honolulu-based Hawaiian Airlines said Tuesday it has appointed Federal Aviation Administration official Russell Chew as executive vice president of operations.
   Chew, 54, will replace longtime operations chief Norm Davies as the airline's second-highest-ranking executive. Davies is retiring on June 30.
   Chew is chief operating officer for the FAA's Air Traffic Organization in Washington, a title he has held since 2003. Prior to joining the FAA, Chew worked 17 years at American Airlines, most recently as managing director of system operations control.
   Hawaiian, the island state's largest and longest-serving airline, is a major air freight carrier between the Hawaiian Islands and the U.S. mainland, offering service from Honolulu to Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, San Jose, Portland and Seattle.
