Hearing set for Tampa cement terminal

Hearing set for Tampa cement terminal

The Port of Tampa has scheduled a public hearing for December 18 to consider a proposed lease agreement on a 28-acre cement terminal, adding to the port's already extensive cement-related operations.

The proposed lease is for Andino Cements USA, a U.S. division of a construction material company based in the Dominican Republic. They have been in business for six years, after acquiring the Alcoa facility in Cabo Rojo, Dominican Republic. The company has more than 450 employees in the Dominican Republic. It plans to lease property from the port to accommodate its expansion into the U.S. market.

Andino and the port have negotiated a 40-year lease with four lease extension options of 10 years each.

The hearing will be at the port authority offices, 1101 Channelside Drive in Tampa, on Monday, December 18 at 10 a.m.
