Hearn heads APL’s U.S. eastern region

Hearn heads APLÆs U.S. eastern region    APL Ltd. has named George Hearn vice president and managing director for the U.S. eastern area.

   Based in Union, N.J., Hearn will be responsible for operations and sales in the East, as well as sales in the Southeast. He replaces Michael Noone, who recently became chief operations officer for NYK Logistics (Americas).
   Hearn started his career with Sea-Land Service in 1985 as a management trainee in Seattle and held various U.S. sales positions within the company. In 1993, he joined OOCL and was involved in sales and operations in the United States and the Philippines.
   He joined APL in 2000. His experience at the Singapore-based carrier includes leadership positions in general management and operations with posts in Atlanta, Los Angeles, and South Kearny, N.J.
