H÷egh links Galveston with Middle East

H'egh Autoliners Inc. said it has added the Port of Galveston as a load port for the U.S. Middle East Service.

The service will call on Galveston twice a month with port calls in the Middle East including Abu Dhabi, Aqaba, Bahrain, Beirut, Dammam, Doha, Jebel Ali, Jeddah, Kuwait, Muscat, Iraq and Tripoli, depending on cargo requirements.

The first vessel to accept outbound cargo will be the H'egh Trooper, scheduled to call Galveston on Feb. 28. Cargo deliveries will begin on Friday. Ports America will be the terminal operator for H'egh Autoliners.

H'egh Autoliners operates about 70 pure car-truck carriers in global trade systems and last year carried about 2 million car equivalent units.
