Historic sloop to host shipping celebration in London Former World War II escort ship HQS Wellington berthed on the River Thames in London, is today a venue for a day-long celebration of shipping’s vital role in world trade and development.
   World Maritime Day will be attended by 38 leading shipping industry organizations and will give visitors, including local school children, an insight into the world of shipping by meeting with key industry players and by driving ship simulators.
   The event is being hosted by the Honorable Company of Master Mariners and the International Maritime Pilots Association, in partnership with the International Maritime Organization, the only United Nations agency located in the United Kingdom.
