HKIA posts March cargo volumes

The airport handled 368,000 metric tons of cargo in March, a 1.1 percent year-over-year increase, primarily driven by 5 percent growth in exports and 3 percent growth in transshipments.

   Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) handled 368,000 metric tons of cargo in March, a 1.1 percent increase from March 2015, primarily driven by 5 percent growth in exports and 3 percent growth in transshipments, the airport said.
   “Amongst the key trading regions, traffic to/from India and Australasia increased most significantly during the month,” HKIA said.
   For the first quarter of 2016, the airport handled 987,000 metric tons of cargo, a 3.5 percent decline from the corresponding period in 2015.
