HOME DEPOT SELECTS GT NEXUS FOR OCEAN NETWORK    The Home Depot, a home improvement retailer, has contracted with GT Nexus, a provider of e-logistics solutions, for global ocean transportation procurement and other services.
   GT Nexus will deploy and operate a technology platform connecting The Home Depot’s international logistics operations with ocean carriers. The network will expedite procurement, rate and contract management, freight optimization, and carrier collaboration.
   Joseph P. McClelland, Jr., vice president, international supply chain for The Home Depot, said that the GT Nexus network would allow his company’s annual procurement process to be done collaboratively online, including soliciting, receiving, evaluating, and negotiating pricing and service proposals from 20 ocean carriers that carry The Home Depot’s products worldwide.
   GT Nexus’s network will be in place by the end of the second quarter of 2002. Contract terms were not disclosed.
