Hong Kong bests Asia’s biggest ports in delays, berth times

Data from shipment management software provider CargoSmart found that Hong Kong’s average vessel delays and berthing times were shorter than those at Singapore and Shanghai.    Average vessel delays and berth times at the Port of Hong Kong were the lowest among Asia’s top three ports in July and August, according to data compiled by the shipment management software provider CargoSmart.
   Average delays in Hong Kong were 12.5 hours in July and 11 hours in August, CargoSmart said in its monthly Innovating newsletter. Singapore, meanwhile, saw average delays of 15 hours in July and 13 hours in August, while Shanghai had delays of 27 hours in July and 18 hours.
   In terms of average berth times, Hong Kong saw times decrease from 15 hours in July to 14.5 hours in August, while Shanghai’s average went from 17 hours in July to 16.5 hours in August. Singapore was the worst performer of the three in terms of berth times, going from 19 hours on average in July to 18 hours in August.
