Hong Kong terminal goes electronic on transshipment documents Hutchison Port Holdings said Wednesday that effective from mid-April, its Hong Kong International Terminal has made its procedures for handling transshipment documents all electronic.
   As a result all transshipment connection details will be input into a new computer program that replaced the previous process of photocopying various e-mails containing transshipment connection details and distributing copies of the e-mails to various ship files.
   “This new procedure can reduce paper consumption by 15 percent to 18 percent each month, which (equates) to 45,000 sheets of A4 paper, or 612 kilograms of raw wood materials,” the terminal operator said.
